The Avoidant Leader

Avoidant leaders tend to suppress personal emotions and create an environment where emotional expression is neither encouraged nor valued. They may distance themselves from team members on a personal level, prioritizing tasks over relationships. This leadership style can lead to disengagement, low morale, and a lack of psychological safety within the team. Without open communication and emotional connection, collaboration and trust suffer, ultimately impacting productivity and innovation.

The Dominant Leader

A dominant leadership style is characterized by assertiveness, decisiveness, and control, with leaders often making quick decisions and maintaining tight authority over their teams. They are highly goal-driven, competitive, and focused on achieving results, sometimes at the expense of collaboration. These leaders tend to lead with an authoritarian approach, setting high expectations and rarely tolerating pushback. While effective in fast-paced or high-pressure environments, this style can lead to burnout, lack of creativity, and dissatisfaction if not balanced with empathy and openness to feedback.

The Compassionate Leader

A compassionate leadership style focuses on empathy, understanding, and support for others. Compassionate leaders prioritize the well-being of their team members, fostering a positive and inclusive environment. They listen actively, offer encouragement, and are sensitive to individual needs and challenges. These leaders lead with kindness, show genuine concern for others' growth, and create a culture of trust and collaboration. By balancing compassion with accountability, they inspire loyalty, boost morale, and encourage a sense of belonging within the team.

Leadership Journey

What Style are you?

We’re two women from opposite sides of the world, Australia and Ireland, who met through a shared passion for leadership, people, and meaningful conversations. What began as a connection through a podcast soon revealed something more: kindred spirits with a shared mission to change the way we lead and live.

Together, we bring decades of experience and insight. One of us, based in Australia, brings 30 years of corporate experience paired with deep training in psychotherapy and developmental psychology. The other, based in Ireland, is a University Design Lecturer, Author, and Founder of FlourishByDesign an Authentic Brand Identity Development Consultant. Between us, we blend grounded wisdom, academic depth, emotional intelligence, and a whole lot of lived experience.
